Combinations of cabinets to use alongside 610hlf

Sign in to disble this ad
Currently running SVT 2-pro, and sometimes, on different occasions, a 3-pro - with a Ampeg 610hlf. Thinking about adding another cabinet to this mix. For the main reason: I'd like to leave one cabinet at the studio, and one at home. (No roady yet, and my back hurts just thinking about moving it) - and then at bigger gigs, run them both in parallel. I love the sound of the 610hlf - Does anyone mix and match cabinets, or would it be best to run two 610hlf's? Do you get crazy wavelengths running different speaker sizes (in a bad way)?

I'd run another 610HLF if you are going to have the cabs in different locations....no need to change amp settings, etc. I'm a big fan of running pairs of the same cab, as long as you like the tone you just get more of the same. That cab has a specific voice also, so matching a different style of cab might get you away from the tone you like for the sake of some additional volume.

As always the best cabinet to run with an existing cabinet is one identical to the first.
