Combining 2 Cabs

This is my first post...experienced player, noobie at the forum. Thanks to all you all you guys on here although this is my first post, i have read a lot of other posts on other issues and have helped me out greatly! Anyway, on to my question... I do know about the issues with combining cabs as far as the impedance goes, but...how does it work as far as wattage? I havent had to worry about this because I use a 4ohm 400w 810. Right now to keep my speakers from "farting" I have to sacrifice either low end or volume one. I want to get a 4x10 and 1x15 to hopefully fix the problem (not saying that combo is louder, its just that my 810 is old and worn out) and make it easier on load in and im not really sure what to get. If both cabs are 200w and im running them parallel will they be able to handle a total of 400w or will it be a total of 200w still? (I have a SVT3-pro 450w head) Also does anyone have any opinion on the ampeg B series cabs? (Those are the cabs I have been looking at). Sorry for all the rambling and thank you guys so much! -

There are several issues here, not the least of which being the 410/15 combination. A good read of the FAQ's should answer all. Good luck.

The 410/115 combination has been debated pro and con. The rigs I've heard using the combination have sounded good, but the general TB public seems to favor a 210/115 combination.

Thanks for your responses! I have searched plenty on google prior to that post and really only found info about matching impedance, but I will give the tb search engine a shot and hopefully I will find what Im looking for.

If both cabs are 8 Ohms you'll draw approximately 450 watts* total running them in parallel. I run one 4 Ohm 2X10 and one 8 Ohm 1X12 in parallel for 2.6 Ohm load, something your amp is not rated for so ensure your speakers are both 8 Ohms.

If you are limited in volume by your 810, a 410/115 rig is probably not going to be an improvement. This isn't true of every 115, but they usually seem to have less power handling than the 410 in the same series. With modern speaker designs, 15" cabs do not necessarily get better low end than 10" cabs, either.
