Combo to Cab question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there,

I've been using an old 300w 90's Trace Elliot combo for the last few years and the power circuit decided to die on me. Apparently it is a common fault from old Trace Elliots which they have since resolved. I'm not overly technical when it comes to amps but i have been told that because the speaker and pre amp is still working fine I can turn it into a speaker cab.

This is where I need your advice... I was looking at the Ampeg SVT Micro VR head and was wondering if that would be a good choice to get and put with my trace elliot? Also, how doable is it?

Cheers!

The TE combo would have to be modified. The internal speaker would be disconnected from the amp, and a 1/4" spkr jack would need to be installed. If this project is over your head, you can have it done by a professional amp technician.
