Combo internal speaker bypass

If I add a speaker jack to my combo in order to use a separate head, is it necessary that the combos amp to speaker be bypassed?

If so how do I wire an input jack so that I can plug a separate head into a combo that disengages the combos internal speaker?

YES the internal amp MUST be disconnected. The best way is to add a jack to the amp and speaker cab. You then would have to use a speaker cable between the cab and built in head.

This! Some combos come like this. Allows you to use the speaker separately, amp separately, or even add additional cabs. Very versatile.
