Comparing Bergie to MarkBass bottoms

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everybody. I have been a long time Bergantino HT 2-10 user (1998), I used to use it with an EA I-Amp 500. Now I've swithed to a Little Mark 2. Same wattage. I've been considering swapping out the Bergie for a MarkBass bottom because of the light weight. Can anyone shed light on the differences between the two, that has used both extensively? I love the dark powdery sound of the Bergie. I have always turned off the tweeter. I use LaBella flats on various basses. I never slap. Thank you in advance to members.

Markbass cabs have a very strong upper mid voicing. Some consider it too strong. It works well in a mix but not the prettiest sound I've ever heard. Not that we should be looking for the prettiest sound in a mix, but I don't know...I'd be hard pressed to get rid of a cab I really liked to save some weight.

a simple trip to Guitar Center or whatever should give you what you're looking for.

I've never been a fan of MarkBass cabs tbh, so my opinion may be a bit biased, but...

I find their mid voicing to be really modern in sound and very strong as Jimmy noted. Which to me really pulls away from the bottom. I always find my self trying to dial some of the mids out to get a decent tone instead of tightening the bottom up.

As far as comparing it to a Berg, I don't think you can, or at least the Bergs I've listened to. They're two totally different animals in my mind.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely not an upper mids guy although everything can be dialed out. It would be nice to try it out, but the Guitar Center at 14th St. is a zoo. I trust the experience of the folks here. Again, thank you for responding!

Go to the one in up in Larchmont if you can...

I was never much a fan of MB cabs either. I wanted to like them, but they just didn't do it for me.
