Comparing frequencies: dark era ampeg 810 and new ampeg 410HLF

Sign in to disble this ad
Since dark era 810s are darker sounding, and I loved how my sounded, perhaps the new 410HLF which is darker then new 810s might be close to dark era 810s in sound? A friend who owned both said the 410HLF sounded clearer and brighter and with tweeter off, sounded like the 810 dark era.
Opinions?

I think if you like dark response you'd like the 410HLF better, but the 410HLF goes even way lower than those dark 810e's.

Thanks Jimmy! Is it possible to control the low end by just rolling off the bass a bit? My GK700 never sounded bassy with any cab I tried it with.

Im running that rig. GK 700RB II and 410 HLF. You can get huge lows from this setup.
You certainly can roll off those lows. My main bass is precision with flats on it, and I can make it nice and smooth as a pocket full of Jell-O without being too bassy, or I can shake people right out of their seats. I also use a jazz with rounds that sounds nice and bright. Lots of control on that amp. But I usually have to adjust it to the room depending on size, wall and floor material, stage, and what mood our sound guy is in.
