CONDITIONS FOR STORING YOUR RIG LONG TERM

Two questions
A: Is it best to fire your rig up every few weeks or doesnt it matter . Presuming the amp is solid state and kept in a reasonably moisture free spare room
B : Would a warehouse type rehearsal room thats cold in the winter and hot in the Summer eventually kill a amps reliability over time ?
Ive always tried to keep my rig in the best possible conditions , Cabs out of the sun , Amp in a roadcase etc , but only to find guys abuse their rigs for years , leave them in their garages etc and have no problems whatsoever .... i guess I may have just answered my own questions .
Any opinions/suggestions ?

Try and keep your speakers in a controlled enviroment. The amp should be kept in a non-condensing environment. Ever notice the rust on the transformers and chassis of old amps in pics? Thats because guys leave them in garages, damp closets in basements and unheated un A/C'd practice spaces. Condensation causes rust.

Treat your amp like you'd treat your girlfriend (or better) unless you'd leave her in the garage too.

A piece of advice which I try to follow is don't store your amp longterm somewhere you wouldn't be happy to sleep (climate-wise).

I think if it's being fired up fairly regularly, it's a bit less crucial as when it warms up it will dry out any minor condensation.
