Confused about cab watts

Sign in to disble this ad
Just curious. My Peavey 410TX cab is rated at 350 watts. The speakers are Peavey TVX 1035-8's. They are rated 300 watts peak, 150 watts program and 75 watts continuous. I can't figure out how that adds up to 350 watts. What am I missing?

The tweeter will take some power too. There may be some rounding.

75 watts continuous (RMS) per speaker adds up to 300 watts RMS total for the four 10" speakers. The other 50 watts is probably for the tweeter, giving the entire cab a 350 watt rating.

And that's not even the whole story, since thermal limits are not the only measure of a speaker's power handling.

But, we won't get into that here.

Thank you. I don't need more of that at this point in my life.

It doesn't work that way. Perhaps someone/everyone? at Peavey is also unaware of that.
The cab has a 300 watt thermal rating; the specs are wrong.
