Considering a Genz Benz ShuttleMax 9.2

Sign in to disble this ad
So I’ve wanted to pick up a Genz Benz SM 9.2 for a while now. Problem is, the only way I can finance this purchase would be to sell my GBE 1200. I know there are lots of threads on here about the various Genz amps and the SM9.2 sounds like an amazing amp. My question is has anyone switched over specifically from the GBE 1200 to a Shuttle series and regretted it? I absolutely love the tone I get out of the GBE 1200. I never run it at less than 4 ohms (1000w) so the SM9.2 at 4 ohms (900w) would be pretty close in power for my needs.

Oh and by the way, I can’t test it out anywhere since there are no Genz Benz dealers anywhere near me. I just have to go on the fact that I own other Genz gear and I know they are all great products. My main concern is if I can get the same GBE 1200 whomp and tone out of the SM9.2.

The GBE 1200 and the SM 9.2 are complete different animals. You won'tget the ammount of power, the punch and the "stamina" of the GBE 1200 if changing.

Just decidet to get me an GBE 1200 after playing a SM 9.2 several times. The SM 9.2 is a really good amp, but it is an amp to go. Play a lot in smaller venues? Lots of hauling the amp from venue to rehearshall room/home? SM 9.2 is a handy amp.

If you never used the GBE 1200 with more than half the power, the SM 9.2 will be ok. But if you have to play loud (I mean it!) the GBE is a keeper.

I dont use my 1200 anymore. I leave it at home.. I have 12.0 , Streamliner 900 and MAX 9.2.. Each one is a different animal as the above poster stated..
The 1200 is a special animal for sure. Lots of clarity and power...
I play pretty loud though either 1 or 2 Uber 115 cabs and i have not been short on power.. The GBE has a different punch to it than the 9.2 but the 9.2 has some real punch.. and is very practical for all my uses..
I really dont miss using my 1200 on gigs... they are different but i dont miss it.. It stays at home now... Love the Streamliner for a gooey sound but the 9.2 for a tighter more diverse sound.. hard call.. both great... but if you can try a 9.2 i recommend it..

Thanks for the input. I still want to try a 9.2 but I just can't give up the GBE1200. Such an amazing amp. Maybe some day when my back gives out.
