Smile Converting combo amp into extension cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone, i got a new stack bass rig and i was wondering if it's any way possible to make my old combo bass amp into another extension cabinet for it?

This is my old amp that i'd like to convert into an extension cab: Fender Rumble 100/210 | Fender Bass Amps at zZounds

Couldn't you just remove the back and rig up the speaker lead to the other cab?

Let me know if this can be done, thank you!

Merry christmas and happy new year.

Electrically, that will work. I would get a plate and install it. The only issue I would see is that the new "cab" will have a space where an amp should be, which would seem a little silly. But you may have a use for that space that you didn't post. I'd be curious to know what you were thinking for that.

Yup! YOu could just pull the head, install a jack plate, wire the plate up and rock-n-roll! I did just that very thing with an SWR Workingman's 10 that the amp crapped out on.

AAMOF, there's a pix of a Euphonic Audio iAmp combo that's been done just that way in the FS section. Sort of.

Only worry would be if the amp was a 4 ohm cab or 8 ohm cab. If it's a 4 ohm cab, you might be hard-pressed to run this cab + another one, as most amps these days won't handle less than a 4 ohm total load.

Hope this helps!

That would be an issue. Of course, you can always build a crossover and make more work for yourself.
