Question cost of an alright combo amp in Brazil?

Sign in to disble this ad
curious of any of my bass brothers and sisters in Brazil could tell me the cost of an alright combo amp there? something between 50-100 watts. I'm going down there for a year and I'm bringing my bass and some gear, but bringing one of my amps really isn't practical. Thanks for the info!

brazilian made combos are crap, in general brazilian amps are crap and overpriced as the import tax is over 100% so the dosmetic cias make everything overpriced and low quality as is the only thing the one can afford, an ampeg like a svt 4 used here goes for about US$2500, a used meteoro or staner combo 100w you'll find for about US$300, just for you to have an idea a very cheap1x15 cab made by particle board and unknown driver and not tuned costs about US$500 on the cheap,
You'll be better bringing a cheapo combo and selling here as you can get a good money for it, you can sell it used for twice what you bought easily, check out the brazilian ebay mercadolivre.com the brazilian currency the Real goes for 2 for 1 US$
I hope that helps you out ,if you need more help just give a pm, are you staying in Rio ?

thanks for the info. Maybe I'll just have one shipped down then, probably be expensive but worth it in the long run. I'm staying in Curitiba actually.

Be careful with opinions. I have always heard good brazilian made amps.
I have been very happy with my 200W Warm Music for about 5 years.
I woundn't bother to bring one. It could be interesting if you want to make some money though.
They go for about R$1000 (reais) or a bit less. Convert the money values, because it changes often, so I may give you a wrong idea if I do it now.

sounds great! I actually speak passing german so maybe I'll have the chance to use it again. I'm taking a portuguese class but only once a week for the past month or so, so I'm still very much a beginner. Everything I've heard about Curitiba has been good.

thanks for another opinion, that amp is in my price range so I'll keep my eye out. I'll look around when I'm down there and then decide wether to buy one or just ship mine. what are the dimensions of that 200W Warm Music amp?

It is more or less like a cubic box with edges of about 1 meter.

All brazilian amps $u ck. All overpriced, both made here and the imports as well. Have yours shipped here, but be aware of import taxes, even if your're shipping your stuff to yourself. I lived in West Chester, PA in 2003-2004!
