Crazy Deal Gallien-Krueger 2001RBP

Sign in to disble this ad
I've seen it mentioned in a couple threads so far, but I'd like to bring some attention to this. Right now, RMC Audio Direct has the GK 2001RBP up for 300 dollars, with free shipping, and with a 10% off coupon code. I bought mine over the phone, so I never actually got their Coupon Code, but if you call them, you should be able to get the code from them.

So, I just bought a GK 2001RBP for $269 new and shipped.

This is apparently lower than the manufacturing cost, so I doubt this will go unnoticed for long.

Jump on it while it's here, guys.

Also, I just confirmed it, coupon code: RMC10-2010

Looks like it's out of date, they just haven't caught it yet.

You can finance through them at 6 months same as cash.

It's what I did, and at this price, it's worth it.

What other equipment would one use a preamp like this with? I've used combos, and I've used heads with cabinets. But if you have a preamp, you also need an amp, right?

Yes, with this preamp, you would need a power amp to go with it. Something like a QSC RMX1450, 2450 ect, or anything from the Crown Drivecore series. These are the big power amp names.

??

Does the GK have two channels, each with its own output?
If so, this 2 channel Carvin DCM amp (on sale for 349.00) would be a nice fit.
325w per channel or 1000w bridged.
I’m thinking two cabs, each driven by its own channel on the GK would be cool. Overdrive the top cab, keep the low cab deep + clean.
Is that do-able?

http://www.carvinguitars.com/product...oduct=DCM1000L

The whole DCM line is on sale if the 1000L is not enough power.

I know there's two channels, drive and clean, but I don't know if there's dual output at well. I could tell you next week!

Or we could check the manual.

I'll get back to you.

If there is, that's a lot of flexibility!! It's basically running stereo with one rig!

I do know that when we were playing with it last week, we had to switch between channels, I don't believe you could run them both. There may indeed be a way, though.

I've read some reviews where people had this model fail within weeks on them. Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm not overly concerned, as long as it gets me through this show, I can spend the time to get it repaired. Just wondering if this pre failing was an isolated incident, or if there's actually a precedent here.

It was created to be used with a GK proprietary power amp, but the amp section of the system never made it to production, and now, several years later, they've cut production on the pre-amp as well.

These were just cut from production in 2010.

Dang it....GK needs to make a pre amp in a stomp, like a sans-amp bddi...with a DI...I guess you could just use the MB-200 for that!
