Crest Audio CA9 Question

Hello all,

Thinking about purchasing a used Crest Audio CA9 to pare up with a Aguilar DB659 pre and Eden 4x10 XLT.

The Eden is the 8ohm version at 700 watts.

The fact that the CA9 is so powerful in bridge mode means I will be running only one side (Channel) of the CA9. I don't want to bridge it for fear of finding my speaker cones some where in the next state.

My question is if I leave the other channel with no load on it, will it damage the amp/channel?

I've been reading on here where guys are running them bridge and in single channel. Will running only one side hurt the amp?

Nope, it will be fine. That said, bridge it!

No problem. The amp has two channels, and you can do two completely different things with them (stereo wouldn't even be possible if you had to do the same thing with both amp channels). Including doing nothing at all.

Good to know, picking one up tomorrow and that was the question i had, being able to run just one channel without hurting it and without bridging.

If you don't mind the weight, the Crest CA amps flat out kill! Tons of clean power, super fast response, BIG bass response!

Seriously, the CA9 is a beast. Lots of power, but heavy.

I agree, killer rig!

The CA9 is the best power amp I've ever owned. One channel was enough, and my hard rock band plays LOUD: the guitard cranks his Rectifier 4x12 to eleven and the drummer has a loud kit and hits like John Bonham.

That said, bridging will give you even more headroom.

Gonna run my input signal parallel.
Want to use each cab separately.
Since the cabs are rated at 600 @ 8ohms, figure it's a good match.

The parallel switch is very handy for that purpose. No Y-cords or splitters necessary. Don't know why all power amps don't have it.

Such a simple thing, and yes, you would think that would be a built in on most amps.
