Crown Power Amp repair service

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone use Crown's repair service? I shipped an amp for repair. It was received on 7/12. I didn't show up as being checked in to their facility until 7/23. I am still waiting to see the site update to show when the repairs will be started.

Have others had the same experience? What's the hold up.

I called once, got to speak to a person who spoke broken English and had no clue on how to answer any questions.

Aaaarrrgghh

I had to have one of my XTI 1000 repaired, under the 3 year no fault warranty, and it was kinda pokey in getting info, when I called to check, they told me that it was already repaired .... seems the clerks who do the data entry are somewhat behind in posting info, at least that was my impression

Crown just isn't what they used to be. Back in Elkhart, they bent over backwards to keep customers happy. Now, as a "brand" owned by a conglomerate, "Crown" may be just an office or two at HQ, just like "Ampeg" or some other brands.

Service may have been "centralized" for all the conglomerate's brands.

I used to work on a system using the JBL PRX stuff with the integrated Crown amps. At one point, for no reason that ever became clear, the amps in the subs stopped working. 3 months later and still not back from the shop that whole system was swapped out for some EAW stuff and sold to a local band. It is my understanding that they eventually got the things back after about 8 months. Just in time for the tops to stop working and the whole cycle to repeat.

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy Crown stuff these days.

Back in the day, Crown's DC300 was known to output its rails on a regular basis. It would take out the speaker system on that channel.

I never had any problems with my DC300A II (maybe the problem was fixed with the series II models?). I still have the amp which worked fine last time I used it, but now I'm afraid to turn it on because it hasn't been turned on in over 10 years. I need to find a techy type with a variac who likes these and would take it off my hands (not free of course). Not trying to sell it here, just rambling.

Sorry to hear about the poor service the OP is receiving from Crown at this time.
