Crown XLS1000 into a Fender Rumble 410?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

looking at the new Fender Rumble 410 cabinet (1000 watts (program), 500 watts (continuous) @ 4 Ohms). From a Crown Drivecore XLS1000 which is 1100 watts Bridged-mono at 4 Ohms.

I'm clearly overpowering this cabinet, by likely 600 watts. Is that too much power?

Anyone with experience with the Crown XLS1000, if the volume knob is halfway does that mean it's giving 550 watts or is it giving more than that? I know some amps give most of the wattage when the knob is half-way.

Sorry, I know these questions have been asked to death, but any help with this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

not ever having played with either, I can tell you that it is always better to have more cab than amp; that is, if you have an amp that is a great deal more powerful than the cabs you have, you are asking for trouble. By trouble, I mean blown speakers.

You can peak a PA amp out with it set half way easy.

Too easy when playing with a band.

You can run your speakers with 350 watts from one
channel. It won't hurt to just load one channel.

I run a bridged 600 watt @ 8 ohm Crown XLS 202
amp into a 700 watt Genz Benz 410 cab.

Something I might add here is that
I used a Samson 1200 watt amp and
several bass amps.

Crown amps are killer amps because
they faithfully amplify what you put
into them.

My Crown amp made a believer out
of me,

Thanks for the input guys.

So David, I can run the amp in stereo with only putting a load on one channel? I thought this would have caused an issue, but no?
