Crwon XLS 802 with Ampeg SVT-810E
Looking for some advice. The next venue we will play has the Ampeg 810E for the bass.
The specs are:
RMS Power Handling: 2 x 400-Watts (Stereo)
RMS Power Handling: 800-Watts (Mono)
Nominal Impedance: 2 x 8-Ohms (Stereo)
Nominal Impedance: 4-Ohms (Mono)
The specs on the Crown are:
Dual 4 ohm 800W / 8 ohm 500W (I take it per channel)
Bridged 8 ohm 1600W
Bridged mode is out, so that leaves using Dual 4 ohms 800W (one channel). However, can you run channel 1 and 2 from the Crown to the SVT? And if you can does this give any benifits? What would be the best configuration for this set up?
look forward to replies.
All the best
two options I see. Easiest is bridged into the mono in on the SVT. You won't push 1600 into the 810 unless you are crazy loud but even if you did, those 100w speakers are around 100 rms/200 peak and the cab would be similar (double rms for peak).
the 500 a side at 8 ohms going into the dual 410 setup is perfectly fine too but slightly more complicated by having the extra cable. :D You are maybe, slightly less likely to blow a driver. You'll know you're getting close when the 810 is shaking your flesh off your bones. :bassist:
Thanks for that. Will got for bridged. Is there any difference in sound between the bridged and the 500 a-side at 8 ohm?
I would like to try out various options but we are only given 10 mins to set up on stage and soundcheck, so not really any time at all!
With the bridged the Crown is rated at 8 ohms and mono on the SVT at 4 ohms, does that not cause a problem?
