Wow, that liner stuff does look good. I think I may have to do that when I de-fuzz a vertical 212 I have...

John, as someone who wants to do the same thing myself when I'm skilled enough let me mention how cool that is! Your work always look great and I'd imagine it performs at least as good as it looks!

i just weighed the cab with the herculiner coating on it. it now weighs 25 lbs 12.7 oz so the bedliner added only 12.7 oz. by comparison, i just weighed the same sq ft worth of tolex that it would've taken to cover it and would have added 3lbs 12 oz, not including the glue to glue it on. i'm guesing that it would've taken an additional 8-10 oz worth of glue at the minimum, so i'm really happy that i went with the bedliner on it.

Amazon sells expanded aluminum sheets for very reasonable price. Its where I got the material for my current project. 40 bucks out so delivered for a 4x8 sheet.

Looking really nice so far. What's the frequency response going to be like with those drivers in that cab?

Having a 2x15 that's under 50 pounds is definitely very tempting. Although I'd probably still use "old school" speakers like JBLs or EVs which would make it probably 20lbs heavier. But even 70 pounds or so for a 2x15 is pretty good.

i haven't actually measured the freq response yet (i intend to when it's finished), but the specs say it's -10db at 40Hz, and pretty flat from 100hz to 3.5Khz with 103.8 sensitivity so it doesn't take much power to get it LOUD.

Nice work, as always.

Are you going to use casters? or maybe a dolly to move it around?

i'm going to use a dolly. i prefer the cab to sit on four rubber feet when it's on stage.

Great idea and really nice build.
I hope it sounds killer espeically considering I have an unused 3015 and the need for a lightweight, effecient cabinet.

Cool looking build johnK. A 215 that fits in the trunk, how cool is that.. I like how the covering came out too. Should be a lot easier on the knuckles than the hard, gritty duratex type stuff.

Just a curiosity, where's your port air velocity ending up? I would imagine between the compact design and those drivers capabilities, your displacement limit is way up there. Not that you'd ever need to run it that hard.

I think the calculated sensitivity on a 3015 is more like 98db.

It runs around 100 from about 150hz or so to the upper end of it's range, according to the datasheet anyway. Box will take effect below that.

Eminence data sheets are really fuzzy. Look at the calculated sensitivity in winisd (97.94db). It's the only consistent measure you can use for this kinda thing. Yes, there are peaks and dips in the mids, but the real number you can count on fairly well is that one.

*Barefaced has a method of calculating broadband, lf, and mf spl that's pretty good.
