It looks very nice John - have you considered spray painting the material behind the inside of the ports black?

John,
How about effeciency?
I'm looking for a 4 ohm cabinet for both my SVT and Mesa Walakbout heads (both 300 watts at 4 ohms) that weighs 50-60 lbs, gets LOUD and sounds great.

Other than some of the 4x10 or 2x12 Neo's nothing fits the bill and all but the GK are pricey.
The fearful would be cool but is not effecinet enough for 300 watts.
This could change all of that!

i thought about it, but i'm either going to leave them as is since with the black grill they won't show as much, or i might just cut a piece of some black pantyhose and cover them on the inside attached with a rubber band.

it's pretty efficient and super loud with my SVT. Eminence rates them at 100.8db per speaker, and winSD rates them at 98db, so depending on who you go by, the cab has a 101-103db sensitivity.

Cool...thanks for the explanation!

That's for the 3015LF, the non-LF is more efficient at all frequencies (not only mids). TS parameters tell the same story for low freqs.
In return, the excursion (and displacement volume i.e. max acoustic power in deep lows) is lower.

The 3015 is definitely better than the 3015LF to work full range and / or with power limited to less than some 350W per woofer. I choose it for the 2nd reason.

The LF can put a lot more lows if electric power is not limited. But it reaches thermal limits before running out of excursion (with reasonable cabs and bass signals). So to me the "perfect" Kappalite 15 driver would be something in the middle.

That sounds pretty accurate to me too. For comparison, the SVT 810 runs around 103 db. More "common" 215's would fall somewhere 97-100 I would think. Average there across most of their useable range. The box will dictate what happens below 200hz or so.

Calculated sensitivity for the 3015LF is closer to 96.5. 3015 is 97.94.

OK, I knew calculated and measured was in both cases higher for the 3015 (I looked at specific freqs), but I did not realized calculated was lower than specs in both cases. Anyway 2 3015's are very loud with limited power.

got the grill cut and mounted. now i just have to paint it and make a custom logo for it. weight with the unpainted grill is 46lbs 8.2oz., but i'm going to add 4 more standoffs, so i figure painted, with the extra standoffs will probably bring it to about 46 3/4lbs. i gotta say, this cab rocks!

What's the open area on that grill? Looks a bit shy maybe.

Anxious to hear a gig report and possible soundlcips with same amp and bass compared to other cabinets.
This begs the question, how much for cut sheets and sketches for assembly like the old EV TL drawings?

This could be the best solution for DIY guys with limited cash and low power heads (funny how 300 watts in now considered low power)

When the weather warms up around here I'd be pretty tempted to take a go at one of these, looks like a really good balance between strength and weight

Whatever little details you add at this point, you hit the mark, man. Nice work.

Don't paint that grill! Loving the two-tone vibe.

it's only 51% but i've not been able to detect any sonic difference with or without it.

i like the silver grill, but i'm pretty sure that i'm still going to paint it black. either that, or have it anodized in blue.

Autobody shops have these camera's they could shoot your Streamliner with and give you a matching color code to have mixed if you want to go that route.

This is a great build John, well done.

Any chance your going to add these to your repertoire?
