Custom Dr. Bass 2x10 combo attempt

First of all, I feel for you Dr. Bass "customers" that got ripped off. I own two of his cabs (and really like them) but bought them used so I didn't have to deal with him. Hope you get some kind of justice...if that's possible at this point.

Anyway, I had this crazy idea of doing a little reconstruction to my Dr. Bass 2x10 cab (which is barely used) so that I can drop my GK1001RBII into it to make a little combo amp (basically, something a little easier to haul around). I was thinking of cutting out a panel in the back of the cab (similar to the Mesa/Boogie Walkabout scout combo) that would fit the 2R space GK1001RB. I'd, of course, reseal the cab. Is this a bad idea? Is there a better option? Keep in mind, I already have a nice rig that I gig/practice with, so this would basically just be a 'for fun' project.

Thanks for any input.

You'd be changing the internal volume which would ehf with the cab's tuning. Probably not a good notion. If you can devise someway to mount it on top without cutting into the cab's internal space, that would be a better way. Maybe mount to the top and build a protective case around it?

I probably didn't word this very well. I am waiting on the coffee to brew and haven't had any smart juice yet.

+1, I'm not too knowledgeable on this topic, but it'd be a better idea to take some of the finish off the top and add a little "rack" or compartment or something for your GK.

Don't...

If the cabinet sounds good now, leave it alone. Your plan will change the internal volume and could turn a good-sounding cab into something not so good. Better to figure-out some type of alternative mounting for your amp.

I would normally say "why don't you call the builder"

Not in this case....
