Danelectro Honeytone speaker...

Sign in to disble this ad
I got one of those little Honeytone amps out of curiosity. Through the built in speaker it sounds pretty good with guitar, but it doesnt handle bass very well(although it sounds great useing the headphone out). I want to mod it and replace the little speaker with something higher quality that wont fart out on me. Can anyone tell me what i should be looking for as far as a high quality little speaker that can handle some volume and bass?

Don't forget that it's a battery powered amp. It's power output is probably around 1 watt anyways. You won't get enough power from the amp for a useful bass response to begin with. To find a 4" (or whatever they have) speaker with good bass response will be expensive and certainly more trouble than it's worth. You'll just end up disappointed. Buy a bigger practice amp?

Some wimpy single col bass picups may help a bit.

Honestly, if you want a micro bass amp, there will be compromises but this one is one of the better ones out there for the money....
