David Eden WT-400 Question

Sign in to disble this ad
On the back of the amp there are two "amp out" 1/4 inch jacks. They are mounted one above the other. Right in between them it says "4 ohm load". Which one is the four ohm jack? Are they actually both 8ohm jacks and the 4ohm load only created when you use both jacks with two separate 8ohm cabinets? I have had two cabinets in parallel by using the extention out on one into the input on the other, but only going to one jack on the amp. Is this running a 4ohm load from a 8ohm jack??

There is no such thing as an 8 or 4 ohm jack. The minimum load of this amp is 4 ohms. You can run 2 8 ohm cabs with this amp - 2 8 ohm cabs creates a 4 ohm load.

Either run a lead to the 1st cab and then a lead between the cabs to feed the 2nd cab, or run 2 individual leads from the amp to each cab. Either way this will create a 4 ohm load for the amp as the connections on the back of the amp and on the speaker cabs are wired up in parallel so the you end up with the same result.

Hope this helps.

Or if you plug into one 4 ohm cabinet it will respond the same as two 8 ohm. Just don't plug into an 8 ohm and 4 ohm or two 4 ohm cabinets.

Thank you !! I just picked up a 410xst last night and it put my Hartke full stack ( 115xl and 4.5xl) out to pasture. I was really surprised when the 410xst put out more and better sound with half the wattage. Already putting money in the coffee can for the "companion" cabinet GAS attack that I know cant be too far away!! Thanks Again!!

What is the ohm rating on your 410xst? I know it's available in both 4 and 8 ohm models.

Nice. If you ever want to add another 8 ohm cab you're golden.

4 ohm jack and 8 ohm jack (sometimes 2 ohm jack) are found only on amp with output transformer (i.e. "all tube" amps)

The two jacks on the back of the Eden WT400 are wired parallel, 4 ohm indicated the minimum impedance of the total combined load.

Yep, all responses are correct. I have the WT400 and have asked this question in the past as it does say '4ohm' on one jack and '8ohm' on the other. Pay no attention to this.
The two jacks merely give you the option of running:
*An 8 ohm cab into each jack
OR
*Using one jack to power an 8 ohm cab, and then attaching the other 8ohm cab to the first cab.
* The other option is to use one 4 ohm cab.
* All options equate to a total 4 ohm load (unless you wanted to run just one 8 ohm cab for 250watts output from the WT400).

I would move the WT400 on and get a WT800 which can run bridge mono at 8ohms and 800watts. It would drive that cab beautifully and almost get rid of the need for a second cab ever!

Actually the B and C models bridge to 880 watts at 8 ohms and 1,100 watts at 4 ohms.

They do indeed. Monsters. I love both my WT400 and WT800B.
