Not what you paid for. There's a $400usd difference in those amps. You should go down there and make a fuss. It's absolutely their problem, they're ripping you off.

I would get a refund of like 200$ theres a 200-300$ difference in the vr and the heritage in price.

You can go to head office in US and make a complaint and the dealer will get his tail chewed real good. It's his problem to get you what you ordered and paid for.

You might have to weigh up what it may cost you in relations with the dealer when it needs servicing if you kick up a fuss. On the other hand if you let him walk over you now, he might let service issues become your problem too.

I don't buy that they can't exchange it. I agree with Downunder... I'd get in touch with Ampeg's US customer service. If the shop you went through is a registered dealer, Ampeg will have something to say about it.

Let me get this straight - you say that he should bend over to this (no better word for it) THIEF and when he does then he can expect anything positive in the future?

Dream on. The dealer's out for his own purposes and bait-n-switched the article for a cheaper version.

That's just criminal.

Contact Ampeg and tell them what this dealer is doing. The dealer is ripping you off. You should damn well get what you paid for. The VR is a good amp, too, but you paid for the Heritage, and you should get the heritage.

I agree. The VR is an absolutely wonderful amp that sounds just like the old SVT's from the 70's, but you paid for a Heritage CL. $200 refund is about $200 too little. I believe the price difference over here is $400 or close to it. Don't know about Mexico prices, but if you really want a Heritage or he won't give you the proper difference if you keep the VR, call or email Ampeg and spill your guts.

Personally, I'd rather have the VR anyway. But, I would definitely want the difference in price back.

Current price difference on MF is $300. And, there's a "restock" VR on there for $1,499 right now.

Hey Coke:

In answer to your question, "is the VR a good amp", it is the bomb! I had one, and it was the best sounding amp I have ever owned (and I have owned a boatload of amps in my life). I also owned a CL, and the CL was just "meh" tone-wise (IMO). The VR has KILLER tone. If the Heritage sounds like a CL, then I would *MUCH* rather have the VR.

All IMO of course.

And please note, I have never played through a Heritage SVT.

Stupid question time, what's the difference bewteen a Heritage CL, a Heritage, and a CL? One of them is a special edition made in USA isn't it?

There are the Heritage SVT-CL and the regular SVT-CL. They are both the same model of amp, but the Heritage is assembled in the US and has upgraded tubes and a few upgraded parts and looks super hot. I've not played the Heritage CL yet so I can't tell you what it sounds like, but I'm about 75% sure I'm getting one, too, so I guess I'll know in a couple months Played many regular CL's and they're awesome amps.

I am really interested in hearing your opinion of the Heritage CL in a gigging situation, Jimmy, especially comparing it to a standard Heritage and a VR. Can't really see myself getting rid of the VR, but if anyone could swing me it is you.
BTW, since I bought my Markbass on your recommendation and still enjoy its clean tone for quieter gigs do you think that the SVT7pro would give me much more over it? (Been meaning to ask you this for a while).
