Death of Ibanez promethean :( whit photo... IS ALIVE!!!

Only for share the pain!

this day, whit a lot of Gas and tons of happines, buy one Ibanez Promethean P300H :hyper:

The amp sound very fine! but... 20 min playing... the amp have a heart attack.

in my experience, the power supply capacitor is broken. First sound like descomprecion, and some ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ (like fried egg)... the smoke are very nice...

some pick :(:(:(

:crying: :crying: :crying:

Now can do two ways.

One

I buy the last amp in stock, so cannot change the amp for another. the opcion is my money back... :( and not have amp. because this is a warrantee. :hmm:

Two

The seller can repair the amp. If is the capacitor... is not problem, but is a new amp... the capacitor can broken in years not in one moment :hmm:

repair, or money back... that is the question :hmm:

If you loved the way the amp sounded, then repair. But, there are a lot of great sounding amps out there these days.

Mr. Foxen 12-28-2012 04:32 PM

There are a fair few differently branded near enough the same amps about.

Jazz Ad 12-28-2012 04:34 PM

There isn't much to repair in this amp, with multilayer PCB and surface mount components.
It is otherwise a fine amp.

El Raro 12-28-2012 04:42 PM

If they're offering a refund, take it and spend the money on a different amp.

januchito 12-28-2012 04:42 PM

yeah... i know are more amp... but in chile don have many option :(

searchin in the web of the seller... the next amp in price is the Hartke HA2500 (know this is exelent opcion) but the price is to high between both.

Musicman20 12-28-2012 05:10 PM

Get a GK MB200 or TC BH250.

januchito 12-28-2012 06:50 PM

that is creasy...

now, plug the amp, and work!

Im Sure... is the capacitor... i see this fail before.

jmverdugo 12-28-2012 06:55 PM

Did you buy it to a Chilean store? Just wondering what could happens if you plug a 110V 60hz amp to a 220 50hz power outlet.

+1

However amps usually do die right away, if they are going to, when they are new.

Get your money back and go by the same amp at a retailer who has one in stock?

Whatever you do, do NOT keep. It is not going to be reliable. I would not try to get it fixed either. She's done.

will33 12-28-2012 07:25 PM

The amp has problems....do not keep it.

Although, if there are switches in the back, make sure they are set for 220V, 50hz.....next time...on your new amp.

I would get my money back. Then buy another amp you like in Chile. Even if it's another Promethian, I would not keep this same one.

bassdrummer 12-28-2012 07:46 PM

Well, untill now, never have any problem whit this store. Bur said in his face, falabella (one departament store) change the product at moment!

leave the amp for the technician check and inform if the fail is from factory or I caused the fault.

Buena suerte!

Is there any way they can loan you an amp until they find the problem with your Promethean?
