Is this a decent hobby-player amp?

I've been away from the bass world for a long time now but I'm thinking about dipping my toe back in the deep end.

I've got a few bucks and am checking out used basses in the TalkBass classifieds, but locally, I can get an old Peavey TNT 150 for $80. It's clearly used but still works fine. Would this be decent enough for home use? Or would I be better off getting something headphone compatible (like a bass pod)?

I'm strictly a hobby player so I have no delusions that I'll be some bass playing rock and roll god (at least not right now )

That would be a good amp for you. They sound good, they're plenty loud, and they're as durable as a tank.

+1. That'll do just fine. A TNT130 was my first amp, and I gigged with it for my first few years.

One of the better low dough amps on the market.

I've heard guys KILL through that very model on the main drag in Nashville in the smaller joints.

If you only want to play through headphones and record but have a bunch of amp sounds and effects the pod is cool too. You can add a cab and power amp later if you like. The tnt Does kick butt though.
