Demeter BSC 310 bass cabinet

Does anyone own a Demeter BSC 310 bass cabinet? If so how, what do you think of it? I bought one but it didn't come with a manual.

Forgive me for the newbieish question but I've only ever played through combos. The seller suggested this cab is rated 450W at 4 ohms. However on the back it says, 500 watts at 6 ohms.

Is this cabinet compatible with my Mark Bass Little Mark III which is rated at 500 watts at 4 ohms or 300 watts at 8 ohms. Will I damage the cab or the head if I hook them up? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. Do I have to adjust anything on the Little Mark III to get it to run at 6 ohms or is it automatic?

Your LM III will run fine unless you try to run in below 4 ohms. At 6 ohms, it should deliver around 425 watts.

Just to back up the statement, MarkBass also makes a 3x10 combo, which is basically a Little Mark III run into a 3x10 cab, also running @ 6 ohms.

So yeah, I think you're safe.

... Although, I would also consider the following note on the MarkBass website regarding said combo:

Important: the CMD 103H contains a 6 ohm cabinet. The advantage of this is that you get more power from the amp (400W). However, you cannot connect this combo to an external cabinet, because it would drop the impedance below the amp's 4 ohm minimum.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Just to confirm, there is no setting or switch that I need to set to cater for the 6 ohms? Will the amp automatically adjust to whatever resistance the cabs have? I just don't wan't to plug in the cabinet and fry anything (an expensive lesson to learn).

This is a common area of confusion. With a tube amp (i.e., an amp that uses tubes and an output transformer as its power source), you must 'match' the cab impedance with an impedance switch or specific output jack. With solid state heads, like your LMII/III, it is a totally different deal, and the relationship between power output and impedance is relatively linear... the lower the impedance (down to the safe operating minimal impedance suggested by the manufacturer... typically 4ohms) the higher the power output.

So, 6ohms will result in the amp not putting out quite the amount of power it was designed and engineered to generate, but there is absolutely zero issue with that regarding safe amp or cab operation.
