Question Demeter - no amp/cab bad?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just bought a HBP1 and I was wondering if it is bad to use it as a D.I. only and not run an amp and a cab with it?

Thanks,
Chris

That's a preamp only, so you can't even hook a cab up to it, directly.

I know. I was just implying a amp/cabinet setup. I did some reading recently on TB that said you can damage your tube amp by not hooking it up to a cabinet. I'm trying to see if that still applies to a preamp. My demeter quit working and I want to make sure it wasn't anything I did.

No, preamp tubes are not affected. You can't harm any preamp by not connecting a power amp (with or without cab) to it.

You did nothing wrong. A pre-amps output doesn't need to be loaded.

What part(s) doesn't work?

All of the outputs. The DI, balanced 1/4", unbalanced 1/4", and the tuner.

Check al them little glass jobbies under the screening cans. See if the tip has been knocked off one of them. It's all too easy to do! If it has the tube will look greyish white inside.

I replaced the tube twice just to make sure. I'm going to take it into a tech today. Thanks for the help!
