Determining Bridge Mode Polarity with a Crest 3001

Sign in to disble this ad
I own one. Of course, - and + are are clearly marked for each channel (in addition to the color coded banana plugs.) Bridge mode is not. It indicates that you use both + terminals but it does not say which should be - or +. Does it matter with this amp?

- and + are marked for each channel (even though the output is AC) to make sure you get the two in phase - so both speaker cones move in and out together. In bridge mode you'll be running into only one cab so phase is not relevant.

Channel A is + (or "in polarity"), and Channel B is - (or "inverted polarity").

Pin 3, IIRC, is hot, or +.

In other words, if you want it in phase with almost anything else in use today channel A goes to the negative terminal on the speaker box and channel B to the positive.

Yes.

That's why I added the bit about the XLR input polarity.

What would happen with polarities reversed? If channel one on the amp was on the + terminal of the speaker cable, and two on the negative?

Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
