DI Mod

I want a better rig. Right now I've got the Acoustic B200 combo and I hate it. It's got zero balls.

My band director has a Fender Bassman 100. I recently finally got the opportunity to jam with it (I don't play bass for the school, they have someone else worse than me) and I am completely in love with that tone. I want to get one. I'm willing to deal with the weight. Volume wise I'm not too worried for now, as I'm planning on using super-sensitive BFM cabs, and I don't play very loud in the first place, so 100 watts should be enough. What I would really like, though, is to add a D.I. to it. I am NOT willing to lug that thing around and get beautiful overdrive tone only in my stage rig and still be clean in the FOH. With me, the soundman is getting post-preamp or a mic, end of story. How difficult would it be to mod the Bassman to have one of these? From my light research it looks like it wouldn't be TOO difficult, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Advice? Links?

The only way you'll get what you ask is to mic the speaker. You could try a speaker level DI but that probably will sound far away from what you want.

Well, a DI won't help you. In fact, it's what you don't want.

mike the cab AND use a pre EQ DI if they have enough channels. Trust me, you don't want to give the soundman just the sound from your rig.
