Not a bass cab, post CBS PA system I believe. I think that it had a transistorized 4 ch. head to go with it...

Yup, a lot of companies had them. I think there was a thread about some Kustom vertical PA columns not too long ago. Ampeg had some as well as Shure and a host of others.

yeah, I have seen some guitarists use those as cabs. They usually have some awful little tweeter that just sprays sibilant noise when you feed it any signal. I did see one that had some cool sounding speakers in it. For guitar that is.

Yup, I have a pair of those at my my church. I was using them as monitors until we got some newer floor wedges. They are supposed to be full range PA speakers but the sound is mid-heavy and muddy.

My band back in the late 60's had them. They were heavy, had Jensen 25 watt speakers and not very good. Actually, ours were 4x12.

I used to have a very old Shure pa system with column speakers very similar to those. Very old skool, but really decent for vocals at practice.
I have no idea what happened to that rig....

We used these stylee of speakers as pa monitors, before tilt back floor monitors were being marketed. Tube amp PA, worked well.
