Did I Make A Mistake?

Sign in to disble this ad
I purchased a used Eden WT 400 Anniversary Signature series amp and a new Aguilar GS 112Nt single 12' bass cab.. I did not notice that there was no tweeter. Will this setup be OK for a newbe beginner. I am afraid I wont have any high notes.
Thanks to those who reply.......

Uh, you're a beginner and you have a Eden/Aguilar rig?

Good lord.

You'll be fine. Really. REALLY.

tweeters? who needs them? i've been playing pro for 32 years now, and in that time, i've owned exactly 2 cabs with tweeters, one of which i sold after a year, one of which i bought 20 years into my career. they're only necessary if you like that really bright high end response like marcus miller or victor wooten. otherwise, you'll be fine.

You've been on the site for 6 years before picking up a bass? That's the most research I've ever seen

If you didn't notice there was no tweeter, I doubt if anyone else will either.

That's what I was wondering too.

I think your rig will be just fine. My first "bass amp" was playing through the mic jack on my boom box. It really sounded like crap. Nice Steinberger USA bass and a boom box. What was I thinking???

I really think you will be better of without a tweeter. In fact, if you live in NC and want to unload the cab, send me a pm.

GOOD FOR YOU! Welcome to TalkBass from a 57-years young whippersnapper!

I'm a recovering drummer and have been playing bass for a while now - and loving it! And as one guy's signature line reads - "We don't want no treble!

Don't worry about not having a tweeter. I have two GS112s and I normally turn the tweeters off on both of them.

Occasionally I will turn up one tweeter just a little if the room acoustics dictates it, but that is rare.

Those are some great cabs. Congratulations.

Yes. Everyone knows your 1st bass amp has to be either a cheap 20 watt 1-10 practice amp or something you cobbled together from an old Bogen PA head you found in the church basement and a Radio Shack speaker. Then your next rig is a 15 - 20 year old Peavey combo (TNT) with some knobs broken off and some kind of mysterious stain on the speaker grill. Then you 'upgrade' to a Crate BX-220 w/2-15 cabinet (So named because the cabinet weighs 220 lbs.). Then and only then are you allowed to get an actual, nice rig. But don't worry, I have a TNT I will send you in exchange for what you have now and I'll keep it in good shape for you while you find your Crate rig.

I only have one cabinet with a tweeter. I turn it off almost all the time.
Tweeters are just a fad that will blow over eventually. Transistorized amplifiers will also fade away when everyone comes to their senses.

Ps what Never said. I would also add that there is an intermediate stage where you blow up a few cheap amps before you give up and burn a big pile of money on the altar of the amp gods.

Bass rigs that do not include a tweeter have been known to cause birth defects in the state of California.

LOL!
That's pretty much me! I had a 15 watt practice amp for ever. I really wanted a Peavey TNT from the 80's but never found one. I just bought my Crate BX-200 with a 2-15 a little while ago. Even though i skipped the Peavey at least I know my next rig will be nice.
