Ding in TC Electronic bass amp casing

I just wonder if anyone has managed to put a significant ding in the casings of these amps, as they're pretty much bombproof.

Received mine today, bought 2nd hand and this is what I found when I unboxed:

Looks like another piece of heavy equipment crash landed on this poor TC head.

Looks like shipping damage to me. Improperly packed.

Anyway, is it normal for TC amps to make a brief high pitched whistle when they power up and down?

my classic 450 does when powering up; nothing when shutting down. i always assumed it was the fan. after that initial split-second whistle, it runs dead silent.

I don't even want to think about how high you would have to drop that amp to get the steel to bend like that... The casing on the RH series is amazing!

High pitched whistle - yes.

My RH450 doesn't make any whistles on power on or off. Also the casing is aluminum not steel.

The factory ships them in a pretty heavy duty box with the ends of the amp surrounded in thick foam. It'd take an amazing whack to dent it like that and the box most certainly would be damaged too.

How was yours boxed by the person that sold it to you? If it isn't pretty beat up, and you think it was packed well enough to not rattle all around during shipping, I'd be asking the seller a few questions.

For reference here's the factory box and packaging

I would be thinking same thing especially if the box is not damaged as well.

My Classic 450 whistles slightly when powered up. These cases are strong and there no doubt if the damage was done during shipping, you would see it on the shipping box.

Has anyone ever opened up the casing of their TC head? I think if I can get the casing off, I might be able to passably repair the ding. Or anyone have a better idea?

The amp still works like a champ though.
