Distorted mid driver

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey TBers. Was wondering if anyone could give me reasons as to why my 18 sound mid driver is distorting? My first thought was that I had a bad connection or something, but it only distorts on the E and A strings. Suggestions welcome!

Sounds like you've got your crossover wired up wrong or the driver is blown. Post a picture of your Xover.

Someone on board had an 18sound with a cracked frame that distorted like that if I remember correctly. It was in a Low Down Sound thread...

It is crossed over with the PXB800:2. I have another crossed over just like it and it sounds great.

That would likely indicate a blown/defective driver.

Well that really sucks considering I've had it for over a year and only played through it 2 or 3 times for very short periods of time.

That would be me. Don from LDS had his supplier send me a new one, and it has worked perfectly since.

Hmmm... I don't think it's cracked or anything like that. I'll have to take it out and check it super closely to make sure, though. Thanks for that suggestion!
