| Sure, excessive depends on alot of things, but essentially, if you're boosting the lows more than a little, it *could* be enough to cause problems. Best bet is to run the amp with the eq flat, no cut, no boost, and if that doesn't sound great, (I judge an amp by how it sounds flat), make very small adjustments. Cranking ANY eq knobs is usually a recipe for yuk, mud, or hiss. Just run flat, and go easy.
