DIY 4x12" Fender Bassman Cab

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, everyone, I've been looking at this site for ideas for a long time, I thought now would be a great time to ask some questions. I have an old 4x12" Fender Bassman cab (with the weird pyramid shaped inside) couldn't tell you the year offhand, but I recently blew out the speakers, they were terrible in my opinion. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts and opinions on how I should go about rebuilding the inside? I have a few ideas, for example, 6x10" or possibly 2x15" (I'm not a total expert, but if my dimensions are correct, there should be room to fit them.) I've checked the faqs on DIY, but none are close to the size I want of this. Also, if it's a bad idea to continue using this same enclosure, I'm willing to think it over, I'd just hate to throw away a good looking box. Thanks in advance!

If you want to re-use the same box, I'd calculate what the dimensions would be if you chopped out all the wierd angle stuff from the inside and were left with a "regular" box. Use that volume to determine what/how many speakers may or may not work.

I had one of those in the 80's. I threw out the original speakers and replaced them with Electro-Voice EVM-12s. Sounded great!
