DIY Amp Case Project

Sign in to disble this ad
This project is turning out better than I expected so I thought I'd post a few pics.

I was looking for a very compact 3-space case and couldn't find anything that I really liked so I built one. It's all aluminum and has feet on the bottom that fit into the cups on the top of the 210 AV. It's not quite finished yet - I still have to add front and rear covers.

The speaker and loaded case weigh the same - 24.5 lbs.

You must either work in a machine shop or have a heck of a home shop! Very nice. Does the case have handles? I don't see any.

very nice work

Bet you'll have zero issues with heat dissipation.

How much does the case itself weigh?

My son cut the panels for me at the shop where he works so at least those were certain to be square. The rest of the pieces came from Lowe's.

I cut and fitted the frame around the electronics as I went along. I wish I had a good workshop but I just used hand tools.

There is a handle on the left side and 4 feet on the right side so I can stand it on the side. I didn't measure the depth of the cab before the panels were cut but it happened that the dimensions were the same.

The SVP doesn't get very hot but I drilled plenty of vent holes over the tube vents just in case. The Crown vents out the back and has a fan so it will take care of itself. I didn't weigh the empty case but it probably weighs between 2 and 3 pounds. The frame itself weighed way under a pound.
