DIY grill cloth

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys!

I recently scored on my first bass amp, a Peavey TNT 115, for $100. It sounds pretty darn good for $100

Anyhow, the grill cloth was missing from it. I'm thinking about making my own but I want to know if material makes a difference (although I mostly doubt it). I'm thinking about using some burlap from old coffee bags.

Any pictures of DIY grill cloths you guys have done?

The term "DIY" is used a lot on here. It must be a bassist thing.

Material certainly makes a difference. You could technically use a plastic shower curtain as a grill but it would not let much sound through, would it? Parts Express sells grill cloth in many different colors. The harder task will be mounting it. You may have to build a frame for the cloth.

you probably have a local pro audio place that repairs speakers.. they commonly have it for just a few bucks.

Or you could replace the cloth with a metal grille for even more protection.

Grill cloth....

If You have the wood frame and wanted to take the "replace it with what it had" route. I would use this.
