Do you EQ you amp differently for your Jazz than your P?
Do you set up your amp differently for a Jazz bass than your Precision Bass?
If so, what do you run? and what are your settings?
I run the same EQ for both my Jazz and P bass. But I was just wondering what others do.
Amp: GB Shuttle 9.0
Cabs: 2x Bergantino HD112
Gain: 12 o clock
Vol: 12 o clock
Low: 12 o clock
Mid: 1 o clock
Mid hz: 1 o clock
High: 11 o clock
I've found with J-style pickups, I can run my EQ almost flat in a live situation. But, with a P Bass, I have found I generally need to make some EQ tweaks depending on the room.
I run them the same usually, although my J is now a PJ.
I run pretty much the same EQ regardless of bass.
I do, however, sometimes bring different basses depending on how much room in the mix I will have. Lots of room in the mix: P Bass. Less room: J Bass.
I don't own a P, but I do have to adjust for different basses on my amp. My Warwick has much more low mid emphasis than my Jazz, so I generally bump up that frequency range in my amp to compensate when I switch over instruments.
I run everything the same, Ric, P bass... and on the very rare occasion, modified EBO
I DO however, like a good tone pot.
I bump 800 hz with jazz, 250-400 depending on the room with precision. Bass and treble changes depending on what I'm feeling.
I EQ differently each bass I plug in, not just my precision or jazz. Both of them have roto77 flats and I use them for classic sabbath and zeppelin stuff but they dont sound the same so I tweak them accordingly.
I usually bump up my highs a bit when using a Jazz. I use the Jazz for funk and 80's rock stuff and a P with flats for blues, country, etc.
