Do you have a bass amp or a converted P.A.? I heard some bass amps are just a cheap PA design with a bass amp title attached. If it is true, what amps are condidered on this category?

Maybe old SUNNs or other amps based on old Hi-fi kits.

But these days? No more. Totally different goals and designs.

Although some of use cabs that blur the line a bit. Accugroove, Acme, AudioKinesis, EA, fEarful, Flite and others produce extended-response cabs that can still take the punishment of live electric bass, but have a broader, flatter frequency response than regular cabs.

And at the high end electronics-wise, some guys running separates use big rack rigs that feature big PA power amps, for extra oomph and flexibility.
