So,who here has any vintage/discontinued bass cabs in their setup?
Here is the cab in my current bass rig:
Honestly,I never even knew 4x12 bass cabs existed before I saw this one. Bought it second-hand for $200 and still serve's me well. It has the punch of a 2x15 and the clarity of a 4x10. In my opinion,to have two of these cabs with an SVT 4-PRO,for example, would be the only rig I'd ever want lol.

| | | | @Wadge Oh yeah,forgot to mention;It has the heft of an 8x10 too.
@spaz21387 Sure. I'm just curious about some of the cabs and whatnot that are no longer available but are still out there. I had a really old Acoustic 1x18 cab once, but I got rid of it because it had waaaaay too much punch to it and not enough clarity. I usually strive for the best balance of both.

But I have a 2x15 from the same era as your cab, and it's a brilliant all round cab (crystal clear highs, and the bass isn't boomy), so I wouldn't mind giving the 412 a shot!

They were both of the square 4x12 variety. Trace Elliot had a pretty killer 4x12 from what I've seen, but for some reason the squared design fizzled out in the bass world. I think amp and cab companies make their 4x12's taller these days for better dispersion and projection.
I would rock the crap outta the cab you have there. Probably kicks like a mule. Good find!

Freeqi Audio Design (Belgian brand) has a square 4x12 if I am correct. |

I got one of those empty 20yrs ago as my first bass cab. I paired it with a Carvin ProBass 500 head. Then tryin something different, I reconfigured it to a 1x15 on the top with the 2x12 on the bottom, but with seperate inputs for each. That WAS a great cab!

| | | I run two Peavey 1516's with a Peavey Tour VB-2 head for the 15s and a heavily modified Harmond Karmon PA amp for the 8s (my distortion channel). I love it.
I've actually started to move away from my ampeg stuff to strictly peavey stuff. I know blasphemous. I just dig the gear more, even that ugly logo.
I'll get some pictures later. |
