Does anyone use the Aguilar AG500 to play heavy music?

I'm wondering if anyone is using the AG500 to play metal, hardcore or punk style music?

I've been playing with some people who's favorite tone comes from the AGRO left on for a very dirty, almost RAT-like tone.

I was considering the AG500 for this band to save a bit of weight over the DB750 since I'm getting the tone from the AGRO anyway. I'm curious how people have found the AG500 works in heavy, aggressive music?

It is. But the AG500 is about 30 lbs. lighter than the AGRO with the DB750.

I think the guy from Protest the Hero gigs with that amp if I'm not mistaken... He also plays with a slightly overdriven tone but I think he is using pedals for that as well, not the amps OD channel

I use the dual channel AG500 and I love it. I really don't use the distortion channel too often. It's loud and sounds great and it can be heard over 2 100W 1/2 stacks.

I use the AG500 and GS412, love it. I use the distortion channel a lot, and it sounds just like the AGRO.

I actually went from a DB750/AGRO rig to the AG500. Still really happy with it.

How similar/different do you find the two rigs to be? This is exactly what I'm thinking to do as well.
