Does my Volume Pot Need Cleaning?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, i bought an old 70's/80's HH Bass Machine Bass amp a couple of weeks ago, i set it up and it sounds REALLY quiet but when i pull on the volume knob slightly the volume doubles at least.
Does that just sound liek a cleaning issues or is it a tech job?
Cheers!

Sounds more like a loose connection on the volume pot...or maybe a bad volume pot.

Try cleaning it. The volume jumps because the ground side of the pot is temporarily disconnected, a dirty pot can do that. If cleaning doesn't work then check for a cold solder joint between the pot and circuit board.
