Maybe you may need to run a small fan on it, but it shouldn't be running that hot with 4-8 ohms. I though maybe you were running it at 2 ohms, which would partially explain the heat. Perhaps it should see the amp doctor, before something actually burns up. Good luck.

Mine did. Not necessarily unbearable to the touch, but enough to concern me at first. I did use a small fan, pointed at the back. But I never had any problems with that head, even when I forgot the fan. I came to think that it was supposed to get warm like that.

Is it in a rack? I had a WP400 that would get really hot like that and I finally figured out that while most heads have the fan on the back, this one had the fan intake on one side and the exhaust on the other. The rack I had it in was pretty narrow, so I ended up using a 1" hole saw to pop a hole in the side of the rack. After it started getting more air it was fine.

yes it is in a rack. i have it in a 4 space rack in the middle with nothing else in it. i had it in a 2 space at first but i thought the 4 space might air it better. it does seem to air it better, but it is still pretty hot. you can hold your hand on it, doesn't burn it but gets pretty uncomfortable to leave it on there. i may try a little fan on the back of it and see what that does. it has never shut down or anything but people have told me i could start melting stuff inside if it ran too hot. so now i am concerned and i have never had an amp run this hot. although i did have a carvin that would get pretty warm but not quit this hot.
