Don't Want to Damage My New Ampeg BA115

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got this new amp and I am running it with 2 basses, each of which has active pickups. According to the Ampeg manual, the -15db jack is recommended for active basses.

If I want to use the normal jack to get a different sound, could that harm anything?

Thanks,

- netgeist

No.
You won't get a different sound anyway, only more gain which can also be obtained by raising the knob of the same name.

+1

It just makes cuts the gain down to compensate for an active bass that puts out more volume than a passive.

your -15dB input shouldn't effect your tone at all.

Thanks guys...I thought that might be the case but I'm still new to the amplifier terminology.

I wouldn't recommend using the padded jack either. It's a struggle to get any usable volume out of those amps as it is. I had one for a couple of years and mainly used it in my music room for practice.
