Downsizing from a GK 4x10

Good day my bass brethren!
I need guidance.

I'm currently using a GK rbh 410 and am considering downsizing for size and weight purposes to perhaps a 2x10 and a 1x15.
Can anybody suggest an affordable alternative without sacrificing much power? And in comparison would doing this be a particularly big step down in power?

I'm running a hartke lh500, vt bass pedal, and a 1970 ri pbass with flats on and a pick...just so you have all the info etc.

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Afternoon Felpsy

I have just resized my gear and have all the tone and headroom I need - without the weight and hassle.
After much research & experimentation I have gone with an Orange TB500 and a Barefaced Midget, plus a Pedaltrain board for my Sansamp Deluxe, Bassballs, EH Neo Chorus and Korg tuner.

One gig bag, amp bag, effects bag over the shoulder and the cab in one hand. Sorted!

All gear on front seat of car, easy for bus/tube/train even on a motorbike - 500W rig that will easily do any pub gig from jazz to rock. You have to hear the volume and clarity of these little cabs to believe it!

Alex at Barefaced is a really nice guy & will even give a full refund if the cab doesn't do what they say it will by way of a months trial!

I'll post some pics soon of my wee monster rig soon.

That's my tuppence worth...

If you like the tone of the GK410RBH, I suggest getting the 210 version of it. Get two 210's and you will be good to go for many shows. The 210 will work great for smaller stages and having two 210's will allow you to stack them vertically (hear yourself better doing that). Two 210's would ensure you have enough volume for the gigs where you really need it. Downsizing is one thing, but when you need the volume, a 210 will not deliver what the 410 model above it will (same brand).

Barefaced Audio makes excellent products that are light, small and wickedly powerful. These products easily out perform the competition.

Thanks for your replies guys. I'm thinking I might go for a pair of gk mbe210's, I've read good things about them on here, plus they're affordable...and they look cool.

Would you consider a NEO? A GK 212 or 410 NEO would be well under 70 lbs and could handle 500+ watts without breaking a sweat.

just did this exact thing but still have my 410RBH. I almost bought the GK 210 combo to add GK210 ex cab. But for almost the same $$ I stumbled across the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 210t. The Shuttle can easily power the 410 when I need more volume and I'm considering selling/trading it for the GB210 ex cab.

What I learned was the GK210 combo only has a pre-DI out, no good for the way I run my IEM's. Also, the Genz Benz has a tube pre amp and better gain/vol controls. So the days are numbered for my GK1001RB II head I think.

Avatar is well regarded for affordability, and pretty good stuff too.

oh, and GK210 combo didn't appear to have a ground lift for DI either. But it does sound killer.

Thanks for all your input guys.
I've just pulled the trigger on a trace elliot 1518t and 2102t all for £375...not a bad deal in my opinion!
They do still weigh quite a bit but still more manageable than my rbh...now to embark on another journey for the perfectly complimenting head!
