Downsizing My Rig
Hey everybody! It has been a while since I have had a chance to post anything here. So I have been busy gigging with a few bands and I am starting to run into some problems.
Firstly, I know that what I am going to ask is very opinion based, and I understand that. I just feel like I need some opinions. I have an idea of what I want, but I am not sold on anything yet.
Ill post about what I am running now.
Passive volume pedal
Clean Boost - mod tone
Chorus - boss
Flanger - boss and modtone (2 flanges for stereo)
Analog delay - modtone
A/B/Y splitter SIDE A
Randal RH150 Guitar Head (Solid state)
4x12 Marshall Cab
A/B/Y splitter SIDE B
.Furman Power Conditioner
3 space rack drawer
dbx 166xl 2 channel Compressor
Road Ready insulated 8 space rack
Ampeg 8x10 classic cab
Alright, so the groups I play with are very diverse. I play with a hip hop group, a gospel church, a jazz/funk fusion band, a power pop band, and a progressive metal group. I use all sorts of combinations of this equipment with the groups, the only group that I use the whole set up for it the progressive band. I am about to get an MTD 6er and I want a different set up. For one, I am tired of hauling all of this stuff around. It is getting really old. I would like to not loose the 8x10 just to have because when people have me do live sesh work most of the time people like the back-line. I have been trying out the Markbass 700 watt combo with the 2x10 and I have seen traditional 2x10 cabs that can be paired with said combo. That thing has the best tone all around that I have tried so far. So I guess I need need opinions on stuff to try. I am only limited to what I can trade my gear in for. Thanks everybody.
Could more or different effects pedals reduce or eliminate the need for the guitar side of the rig?
That'd lighten the load considerably.
Get a little guitar combo, maybe a Twin or a Marshall combo or similar. Then roll off all the lows so you don't blow the speakers. You need much less to amplify highs and mids than lows, and you really don't need the lows to be effected.
