If people from across the country have paid him for undelivered products, it's therefore interstate commerce and the jurisdiction of the Federal Government, correct? Has anybody contacted their local branch of the FBI? I'm serious.

I did at one time but for the amount I had in it financially, they would not do anything. However, with all the data gathered here so far and the total being what it is, I suspect the FBI would now open a case and investigate.

I had contacted IC3 (the internet crime division of FBI) nine months ago, had no return correspondence on my case.

I'm sure if ALL DBV's contacted IC3 (link is available on FBI.gov website), and the totals reported would go beyond felony status, they may act.

Out of BBB, BBB of Coastal Carolina, SC Attorney General's office, Horry County SC DA's office, FBI, IC3, the only entity that is actively persuing my case is the US Postal Inspectors Service, because I used USPS Money Order and US Mail in my transaction with Serio.

Also, reports to RipoffReport.com actually do get looked at by authorities, especially when there is a consistent pattern of fraud reported, and is a permanent, non-removable Internet record of fraudulent businesses.

John, just in case..

I've also filed complaints with both IC3 & BBB. Can share all of that data if needed.

BBB basically closed the case because Marc NEVER replied to them.

IC3 never got back to me on the case...

I just noticed that the Dr. Bass web site is offline . . . a different message than the "non-renewal" message that was up a few weeks ago.

It's normal to see this when the domain registration renewal bill goes unpaid. After a mandatory waiting period the domain name reverts back to available status and anyone can then claim it as their own. Domain registration only costs about $10 a year, so I wouldn't count on seeing any more deliveries from Serio, he can't pay for the shipping. I guess the good news is that he can't screw anyone else either.

Well let's see.....in no particular order:

US Postal Service
BBB
SC Attorney General Office
Local Police
Private Attorney's
Forum Administrator
FBI
Federal Government
Horry County DA Office
IC3
Credit Card Companies
Irate Threatening Customers
and probably several more I have overlooked......and nobody can or will do anything about it. You know Serio is reading every post that has anything to do with him. He must be highly amused.
This has to be the sickest situation to ever exist on TalkBass. Everybody keeps crying and DB keeps laughing. Go figure.

FWIW, I bought the demo 210 he had on his Steals and Deals page a couple of weeks ago. The deal went off without a hitch. Maybe it's a repeat customer thing....

Umm...weren't we not supposed to be posting personal info (like his address and/or phone number) about him? IIRC, at least one other thread was locked 'cause of that. Well, that and the threats to kneecap him...

Of course I spoke with him on the phone. I may have been born at night, but not last night.

If that's true it is absolutely sickening. Screwing anyone out of money is obviously wrong... but screwing someone who has already proven themselves to be a loyal customer... (in my case twice) and someone who has referred other bass players... is truly truly despicable.

FWIW, I have contacted: BBB, IC3, PayPal, my bank, two local newspapers (in Myrtle Beach), and two local television stations (in Myrtle Beach). Nobody has offered any help.

Well, at least JT stepped up to the plate so if nothing else comes of this, at least a thread is stickied instead of buried, and maybe it'll save some poor soul or two from a screwing. And it's pretty tough for any apologist to argue with an accrued figure of at least $10,000, so maybe that'll keep further people who regularly read talkbass from suckering out.

Here's another way to look at it. A lot of people seem to like his products (there seem to be a lot of Avatars on the classified pages too). Just about everyone despises his business practices.

So, what would Dr. Bass have to do to restore his credibility with the bass community?

I don't think he can at this point. Maybe... if he shipped every piece of merchandise within the next month AND gave partial refunds (for the excessive wait) AND did some serious apologizing... he might earn it back. I just don't see that happening.

I remember the first time I talked to Marc. We talked at length about bass guitars and tones and things like that. I always liked Marc and defended him for awhile to my friends. *sigh* Those days are gone and I'm just going to cut my losses. "Oh well," is all I can really say about the whole thing. A $325 stupid tax, I guess

An interesting question, especially given your prior experience . . .

Ordered Two Cabinets from Dr Bass never received.

Viewed services available at http://www.drbasscabs.com, contacted Marc Serio by e-mail correspondence May 30 2009, asked about shipping.
Received a full purchase price, including shipping of $1351.35. Also was informed by Marc Serio that there was a 4 week turn around time in making the cabinets on June 2nd, 2009.
Sent payment via Paypal June 5th, 2009.
Received e-mail from Marc Serio that neo drivers for cabinet construction were backordered on July 7th, 2009, after inquiring about a ship date.
Received nothing from Dr. Bass for months, emailed at end of December 2009, e-mailed several more times to no avail, Received nothing in return.
To date, have not received any correspondence from Marc Serio d/b/a Dr Bass LLC.
