I noticed that only one of the two speakers was working on my DB212 and there was something knocking around inside the cab. I pulled out the one that didn't work and the magnet had fallen off of the back of the speaker. I tried putting it back on but the speaker still doesn't work. Any ideas out there?

| | | | If you want to keep the other one, just contact Aguilar and get a matching replacement. Two different ones in the same box is never going to really work out well.

Even if defective shipping the old driver back is usually the customer's responsibility. |

| | | Man I've never had or even heard of a Peavey BW magnet falling off. Maybe the other guys should use some bolts in theirs as well...
I mean how are their magnets held on that dropping the cab, etc makes them pop off? Seems like just normal 'rock & roll' transportation around the world etc. would make them fail also...

I went OH S*** and tried to put it back on. I got it over the frame and the thing jumped off the ground and slammed into the voice coil. My reconer was able to position the magnet, reattach and recone, HAHAHAHA

Dropping can make them fall apart, but I was one of the victims of a faulty batch of Trace Elliot speakers from the early 90's in which a LOT of them failed as they went to a more environmentally sensitive glue that just didn't work for long. David at Vancouver Speaker Tech, our resident speaker genius, just glued it back together for about $20.00 and it has worked fine now for the current owner for over 15 years, complete with the original voice coil.
As long as you don't play on it for any length of time after the failure (which you didn't, and it would BARELY work in that condition anyway) it should be a relatively easy job. That was my experience with a great tech, anyway. YMMV.
Good Luck,
Cameron

Good Luck,
Cameron | Honestly, chances are that I did play on if for a while in this condition. I didn't notice it until I moved it on Sunday. I had been using my other cab and this one, although played on, had not been moved much lately. After I discovered it, I felt like an idiot for not noticing it sooner but I guess it could have just happened. It has not been dropped or anything since I've had it. My guess is it was like this when I bought it but I'm not sure enough to say with any confidence. Oh well, chalk it up to the price to play!

The recipient flipped out on me... so I paid him off and filed the claim. UPS shipped the cab back to the UPS store where it was shipped from, then paid a claim for the total cost of the cab. The UPS store asked if I wanted the 'scrapped' cabinet back - so I snagged a replacement driver from BE and life was good ... although the entire process required about a month ... I still have the old magnet rolling around in my garage. It makes a wonderful way to collect misc screws & nails from my workbench :~)
