I know that almost everyone looks to Eminence for replacement drivers. They're great but a lil pricey, especially for neos.
What other companies make very good drivers that don't cost a small fortune? |

I'd LIKE to have neos but I'd settle for really good conventional drivers if the price/quality was right. |

What type of woofer are you looking for? Loud or low, sealed or ported, crossed over low or high or not at all, etc.

EV, 18sound.
You probably won't get better bang for the buck to prformance ratio from anyone else than Eminence.
Your location plays a vital part, the drivers that are feasible options for us Europeans aren't necessarily so for the Asians for example.
Besides the driver specs, one has to always consider the replacement availability or recone-kit availability (for the pro drivers).

Cheap woofers usually have poor x-max; nor do all medium and high priced woofers necessairly have good x-max.
Let's say a $100 12" woofer has 4 mm of excursion and farts out at 200 watts (oversimplification, I know). You find a nice-looking $60 12" woofer with 2 mm of excursion, and otherwise similar specs (another oversimplification, but it makes the comparison less cumbersome). The $60 woofer will fart out at 50 watts. You'll need two of them to match the SPL of the single 4mm woofer, plus twice the cabinet volume. Assuming you need that SPL (and you have 200 watts available), now which one is cheaper? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
