I did some searching, but couldn't find a good answer...
What EXACTLY do the 'Presence' knobs do?
I set everything flat all the time and haven't done much 'tweaking'... but, if i knew what i was listening for, it'd help a ton...

As far as I know (mind you, I'm not an electronics engineer), there are differences in design and there's no set standard for what frequencies get boosted. I would suspect a presence knob on a guitar amp is doing something a bit different than the one on a bass amp, but the intent is the same. |

It works interactively with the bass expander control. It looks like it will work from about 200 Hz to about 1.2 kHz over its range.

roughly centered at 2.1 kHz.

Thanks, though! (Madcity Fats, too)

It's a variable mids cut, from low mids to roughly high mids. The bass enhance control will affect it some too.

Bass Expander 8 ... it basically makes the mids sharper when the control is past 5, it makes the sound more rounder below 5 ...when everything is set flat is sounds like it has no effect ... it works good with a sealed cabinet, when using a ported cabinet, it sounds like it has no effect ... that's been my experience with the YBA3's |

| | | | I found that I really didn't need to tweak much on the YBA-3 as it sounded sweet no matter how it was set. The presence control was hard to figure out but did seem to interact with the other controls. I sold her this year but it sure was a neat amp.

I noticed on my YBA 3 that it made the high mids stand out more as it was turned up. I usually kept it around 3 or 4.
Bass at 6 bass expander 8, treble 5 treble expander 7 presence 3/4 Vol between 6-8, master never got over 4 haha |
