Unhappy DUMBEST thing I've done in a LONG time

-or *Dude, where's my amp?*

When to a friend's place last night, thinking there would be a small impromptu jam(there wasn't, but there was a steady flow of alcohol); woke up @ home, trying to remember what I did w/my rig- a Carvin BRX-212.
Found it outside the garage door, IN THE RAIN.

It's not quite dripping, wasn't plugged in & having a small six-pack cooler on top of it, it was just slightly *covered*
It's now inside of course- I now invite you all to ridicule, co-miserate and/or advise me as to best chance of avoiding permanent damage. Fan+heater? Pull head from combo & bring it inside the house?
I R dumb

Don't in a hurry to plug it in. I'd probably give it a week of just sitting before any use.

Sit it on a register or in front of a fan or something to help dry it out.

Put the amp in a room with a running dehumidifier. Close the door and leave it in there for a couple of days.

Stick it in a room with a de-humidifier for a few days... alkso, you can maybe tell how much water it has soaked in by how much more it now weighs!
Alternatively, if you have a secure place to leave it outside in the sun, that'll work as well...

Yeah like mentioned, do NOT turn it on until everything is good and dry.

BUMMER!!! Maybe you can open it up and dry it out with a hair dryer - just be careful not to get it too hot or melt anything (like wires, etc). And then still wait at least a few days before plugging it in and turning it on. Good luck.

Sucks.

One gig I had, we're at the bar for a couple of hours, and right before we're supposed to go on, I realized my Warwick Corvette wasn't there. Go back to the rehearsal room, and it's not there. Clicks in that I left it sitting on the ground in the parking lot of the rehearsal space...unbelievably, someone ended up turning it in to the office there.

Does it have tolex or rat fur? If it has rat fur i would worry about mold! If it is tolex it might start lifting from the wood.

How ever you decied to dry it i would remove the speaker and let it breath! putting a fan on it will help with mold. I also would remove the amp and see if the electronics where wet. If they were i would then fill the amp housing with rice it will absorb the water.

Lastly how did you get home? I am not your dad but dam if you couldnt remember to take your amp in i really hope you didnt drive!!!

+1 to most ideas above, especially pulling the speakers out to further speed drying and prevent mold.

I think your getting good advice..not a ton you can do..I would say the sun would not be the smartest regarding water and electronics..Assuming the box is plywood of some sort it can tolerate a little bit of water and swelling and simply go back. I would attempt to isolate the components if possible...ie remove the amp from the box. find a spot closed off from the house (a closet) maybe use a little bit of heat and dehumidifier...the dehumidifier will add some heat to the closet as well so a heater may not be needed....hopefully after a few days most moisture will be captured. You can try and open the amp if its reasonable and put a small brown bag full of rice in there ...the rice will absorb the moisture..I guess id be most worried about the power section being wet and shorting everything..I would make sure thats good and dry... if your in the city you can try and find desiccant as this is better than rice and reusable..

For the box I think it would handle a little bit of moisture but of course try and remove all you can..check for warpage and swelling.

Lastly another good story about alcohol and its affects...the stuff can be a killer...be safe.

My only problem with desiccant is most brands of it is the consistency of cat litter. It can often times be very hard to get out if electonics! And it if any gets left behind it does not do great with heat. Rice does not have alot of those problems. Also i would not put in a closet were ever you do put it keep the lights on dark areas promote mold growth.

And afterwards you should be able to easily blow the rice out with canned air.

If you use a hair dryer, think "airflow", not "heat". Warm (not hot) air can help evaporate any water without being hot enough to melt wires or do other damage. In this case a high-flow/low-heat hair dryer would be preferable to a low-flow/high-heat heat gun, like you might use for heat-shrinking, etc.

I'd also pull it apart (at least chassis out of case) as well as removing speakers, just to be able to get at those little "between" areas that small amounts of water might collect in, promoting rot & growing mold.

Rice is great stuff. My friend dropped his smart phone in water twice, and both times, it saved him.
